Um conceito <a href=\"https:\/\/www.noticiasmotociclisticas.com\/?p=9409\">j\u00e1 havia sido apresentado no Sal\u00e3o de T\u00f3quio de 2015<\/a>, com o nome de MWT-9. Na ocasi\u00e3o, a resposta do p\u00fablico foi t\u00e3o positiva que a marca dos diapas\u00f5es resolveu dar continuidade ao projeto.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">De acordo com o presidente da Yamaha, Hiroyuki Yanagi, o nome surgiu da jun\u00e7\u00e3o das palavras japonesas &#8220;Ni&#8221; (dois) e &#8220;Ken&#8221; (espada). Entretanto, n\u00e3o foi falado se a Niken ter\u00e1 alguma altera\u00e7\u00e3o. Maiores informa\u00e7\u00f5es ser\u00e3o divulgadas no Sal\u00e3o de Mil\u00e3o, dentro de duas semanas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Chassi, painel e estilo geral, contudo, s\u00e3o semelhantes a uma MT-09 convencional, embora a MXT 850 seja nitidamente maior: a motocicleta possui 2150mm de comprimento, 885mm de largura e 1250 de altura.
